5.56 Military DAMAGED Brass

5.56 Military DAMAGED Brass
**** This is once fired 5.56 DAMAGED brass.
It is not loaded ammunition or regular 5.56 brass. ****

May contain cleaned or uncleaned brass. Damage is predominantly to the
neck and shoulder on most pieces.  Many will have small body dings as is
common on 5.56. Brass is generally once fired military brass but
may contain some commercial pieces. This is the brass we cull out of our
5.56 and 223 brass as too damaged to be included in our
regular reloading brass.  We will ship extras and do our best to cull the
worst of the damage. That said,
there will inevitably be some unusable / destroyed pieces in the mix.

Works great for 300 BlackoutReview by ThreeOttersSwimming

I purchased the 2500 box (5.56 Military Brass) and it actually had 2,610 pieces in the box. I made 2,581 300 AAC's. I cut the top off and ran a neck exp/decap rod inside the cases to iron out the dents in the sides befor running twice through the sizing dies. It removed 99% of the dings (the expander bottoms out on the 5.56 cases) in the sides. the neck exp/decap was installed in my 45/70 sizing/decapping die (but any die will work as long as the sides do not touch the wall of the casing. I put the exp/decap unit in my 45/70 die because I would not have to ever switch it out. The diameter was .348 exp/decap unit, RCBS Part Number: 9819.
I have shot 100 of the cases 6 times now with no problems. Was lots of fun making the 300's. A great buy from Everglades ammo. (Posted on 6/13/2019)
Good Brass if you are willing to work for it.Review by Tanj

I set up a tapered drift punch horizontally in a vise; had the shipping box in the middle and a container to the left and right. Made a first run through the brass; if it easily fit on the punch I tapped the neck to size, (the first one I measured which left a mark on the punch that I then used as a quick reference), and tossed it into the right side container. If it didn't fit the punch I didn't mess with it the first run but tossed it in the left container. After which I went through the rejects and with a needle nose I opened up the necks. Then I went back through that and sized the necks on the punch.
At the end of this I had lost 16; 3 were blanks, 12 had necks that were torn, and 1 had a chipped rim. I also separated the cases with dings in the cases which came to approximately 75.
After finishing the rest of the normal case preparation I loaded the dinged cases and took them out to fire them separately to see what they looked like and so as not to have possible jams in my magazines. They all fire formed back to nice cases which I then re-did and added them to the rest. Except for one which split the neck. This then left me with a total of 17 wasted cases and a total of 1049 good cases.
I was pleased that I had at least 1000. The work was not hard and they were all processed in 2 evenings. I will say that when I first saw them I thought that I had made a mistake and that the amount of work would not be worth it but once I had a system it went smoothly.

Surprisingly good damaged brassReview by Dana

2667 in the box of 2500. 12 commercial pieces, 3 that were damaged beyond use. Total of 2652 pieces that should be fine to convert to 300 Blackout. There was a high percentage of the cases that could easily be fixed and used for 5.56/223 to be honest. I will definitely be ordering a couple more boxes of this in the future. (Posted on 1/14/2019)

I have ordered two orders of 500 to tinker with. The first order I received little over 600 cases with only three that had to be scrapped. I was able to load 223 and had a good handful to cut for 300 blk. So I was greatly pleased with that purchase.

The second one was not that great. I did receive almost 600 cases this time as well. I was able to save about 100 for 223 loading and about 200-250 for cutting to 300 blk. The rest were scrap. I seemed like I received the batch where most of the cases were creased directly in the middle of the case. So bad to where even a fire form wouldn’t fix it.

I guess it’s just luck of the draw. No big deal happy reloading all. (Posted on 1/6/2019)

Very satisfied with the brassReview by Robert

I ordered 500 rounds to reload .223 and take the others to cut down for 300 Blackout, I spent two days just sorting the brass. In the end I ended up with 268 cases for my .223 and 259 for my 300 Blackout, and only 12 cases that were unable to use, this is great brass and I’ve always ordered for Everglades and always will. Very SatisfiedReview by hdwhit

It is advertised as "damaged" so I thought it would give me a good excuse to stay indoors on cold nights. I ordered 500 rounds, received nearly 550. About 15 commercial cases, the rest were LC ranging from LC03 to LC16. The vast majority were LC10. Most cases just had partially collapsed necks that were easily remedied with a pair of needle nose pliers. The brass was very clean. Nearly 400 cases were readily restored to use as 223. I expect to be able to successfully convert another 80 or so to 300 Blackout and the rest will be recycled. That was much better than I had expected when I placed the order. (Posted on 3/15/2018)

I hate to say this but, as usual Everglades steps up their game. Ordered Sunday afternoon, at the door on Wednesday. I expected much worse but I gambled on 2500. My shipment was exactly as described and I figured id have a good donor batch for 300 blackout after scrapping a bunch. Initial processing shows a lot of this can easily be tinkered back into useable 223 and the rest will make great blackout brass. Some of it is fairly beat up and needs work but for under a nickle a case it cant be beat! (Posted on 8/3/2017)
Ordered damaged. Got damaged.Review by Matt
Overall Rating
I will get right to the point as to why it only gets 3 stars. Its all about the description. I ordered damaged brass and was expecting damaged brass. I was not expecting mangled brass. "Many will have small dings to the body" , is what is in the description. In actuality, about 50% of the brass I got had large dents that I dont think even fire forming will remove. They appear to be machine marks from processing or something. Large deep gouges that I really cant explain. About 20% of 2500 pcs had to be scrapped. 30% will be cut down in hopes of possibly making some 300 Blk out of them. The other half should either size out or fire form back to good brass.

I dont know if I just got a super crumby batch or what, but if this is the standard of what is being sent out, the description really needs to be updated. If I was expecting half of them to have major body damage, I dont think I would be nearly as displeased. (Posted on 4/29/2017)
Good value for .300 blackoutReview by Ckmate69

I bought a bag to cut down for .300 blackout. As they state, most damage was to the necks or shoulders, so 95% of the brass was usable. Although I was able to resize about 100 for my 5.56. There will be some damaged beyond use, but they threw in enough to make up for it. All was lake city brass! Will buy again! (Posted on 4/26/2017)

I bought this damaged brass for 300blackout because I did not want to use my good 5.56 brass to convert, the 1000 I bought would have made alot of good 5.56 but I only want it for the 300blackout and for the price it was great (Posted on 3/28/2017)

Ordered 1000 roughly half could be tinkered back to 556 or 223 the other half were damaged and had to be converted into 300 blackouts. As stated in the description the damage is locate at the neck or shoulder area which you cut off and throw away for for 300 blackout. i will buy these again. Shipping was incredibly fast as usual. This was my first order of 5.56 damaged brass and I got 2500 for $115. I truly like Everglades and the quality that I have received in the past. They ship good quality and ship it fast.
I am truly sorry to have to say that this was a very bad batch of brass!!!!! It was so bad I just through the whole box out. I could have just taken the money and put it in to the trashcan and ended up with the same thing “NOTHING”. That was a $115 I will never spend like that again.
I will get some good brass from Everglades when I get some extra money. Hope it won’t take me to long to save up enough to get some and make up for the $115 I threw away 

Excuse For Bench TimeReview by Douglas
Overall Rating
Most of the brass is salvageable, if you're willing to tinker. Those that are more damaged can be converted to 300 Blackout. If your needing an excuse to sit at your reloading bench, this might fit the bill. Great value too. (Posted on 11/28/2016)
Good Value for 300 Blackout ConversionReview by Chris N.

Received 1029 cases and was able to convert 900ish into 300 Blackout. Definitely a bit more dirty than the usual brass ordered and would have a lot more work if trying to use for 5.56. Overall I am happy with my order and will order more soon. (Posted on 10/16/2016)

we can't say much good about the lot we received. a lot of crushed flat case bodies, necks ripped, big portion won't even make 300 blackouts. not again, we'll stay with the good stuff.
